My heart of darkness.
This is a story of a boy named M. He was a free soul who constantly traveled from town to town. One important thing you should know about M is that he has this heart shaped glass that captures sunshine that he cannot live without and thus the story begins…
Every night, M would sit out on top of his roof and stare at the clouds with the moon gently shining through. As they passed by he’d wonder how it’d feel to hop along those white gleaming clouds. All throughout the night he’d stare in amazement of the rays of sunrise beaming slowly over the horizon. He’d sleep as late as he could just so that he’d be able to enjoy every last bit of night. And during the day he’d spend it moving around town, collecting sunshine in his little heart shaped container.
From town to town he moved and he made a few friends in each just so that he’d feel like every town was a little bit like his home. For the most part, the citizens of the towns thought that M was a kind boy with a backpack full of heartache and a head full of trouble. They humbly let him pass through town and kept him company. He hoped that he would be able to capture enough sunshine to light his paths at night.
The worst part of the story of M was that wherever he went, he’d leave the town in shambles. The real reason why M was so disastrous was that every time he opened his heart to capture sunshine, a little bit of darkness would leave the container and cover the town. He never meant to hurt anyone. But regardless, he continued to travel because he kept trying to fill his heart. Soon enough, word of M traveled far and wide until every town that he went to visit shunned him and the ones that didn’t learned that their sunshine was being stolen.
The people knew of him but never knew who or what he was. They’ve heard of the things he’s done to other towns and cities and that was reason enough to tell him to leave. Some citizens asked who M was, where he was from, what he did or what he wanted to do but none could figure out who he was because he never really cared to let anyone know. There were times when he’d tried to explain but it fell on deaf ears. There was no desire in M to do anything but keep moving. He found it relaxing to know that he was alone without connection, without ties. Everything that he did and said was for a reason. He knew deep down that he had no bad intentions, just a darkness that he was always fighting to keep hidden in his heart shaped container.
The truth was, M was an enigma; a paradox of action and event. He was a traveler yet he never cared to travel. He stared at the clouds, but never cared about them. He was, but wasn’t. And for those reasons, he was always content without a care in the world. To M, his only real hope was to stop traveling and fill his container with sunshine and never have to worry about it running out. But he realized that no place could have everlasting sunshine. So he gave up looking and now, the only thing that M cared about was his heart of darkness.

“Light thinks that it travels faster than anything but it is wrong. No matter how fast light travels, it finds that darkness has always gotten there first, and is waiting for it. What you call evil, I call a reaction to an event. Unlike most, I see and recognize my actions as evil after the fact. Of course I feel bad, but every story needs a protagonist and an antagonist. I won’t pretend to be good so I’ll be the villain, you can be the hero.”
